Now that I talked about Xiaomi in two straight articles, I might as well give a list of the most valuable startups in China right now. The data come from the awesome TechInAsia, who published this article a couple of days ago. And here's the list:
First, all 15 startups are easily valued at over $1B. Second, note the weird English names translated apparently directly from the pronounciations of their Chinese names – yes, Chinese market is that big that they don't even bother coming up with a sensible English name. In fact, both Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU) and Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) are direct translations of their Chinese names. There's no reason why the trend shouldn't continue if any of these eventually does an IPO on Nasdaq or NYSE.
